About Me

This is probably going to be awkward...

I'm not very good at talking about myself.  I would much rather talk about BOOKS, the kids, Michael Fassbender...my adorable dog Bella.

Isn't she gorgeous?  I mean, who wouldn't want to talk about her??

Really, I hear "About Me" and I just want to come at y'all with:  I'm a Gemini, I enjoy classical music and the Bee Gee's, I have a makeup addiction (certified VIB Rouge here!), I like margaritas and hard cider, birds, snapchat, etc.  I clearly have problems...

Okay okay...my name is Christina and Tomes and Tequila is my new baby.  Call it a midlife crisis moment, but I had been tossing around the idea of starting a book blog for awhile now.  This gal seriously needed a hobby!  My kids are out of the nest (for the most part) and I feel passionately about books.  I truly think there is a book out there for everyone.  If you say you don't like to read, chances are you just haven't found the right book.

I have been reviewing books on Goodreads for years now, and thought it was time to up the ante a bit.  I have lived all over the place, so I really enjoy reading about different people and cultures...but I'll give most any book a shot (this includes Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey, thank you).  The main change to my reading habits recently is that if I've given the book a few chapters and I'm just not feeling it, I'm not going to force myself to read the whole thing.  Life's too short, and there are too many good books out there...which is why you'll see mainly 3-5 star reviews on my Goodreads profile.

I currently work in a small military library as a Cataloger...meaning I touch every item that comes into the building at least once...sometimes a whole shit ton more.  It's one of the only areas of my life that really showcases my latent OCD tendencies (right now the gals who work with me are thinking "tell us something we didn't know Christina"). Since it's a small library, I also help with weekly Story Times and other assorted tasks. You can call me multifaceted!

I really want this blog to feel like a few minutes chatting with a friend.  Chances are you're not going to get an incredibly serious academic book review from me..there are plenty of blogs out there doing it better than I ever could.  But if you want lighthearted, fun, slightly snarky reviews with some real life thrown in for good measure, I'm your girl.  For awhile there I had multiple book clubs going, and it was so much FUN!!   As I said in my Welcome post, most of my book club girls have moved...and I miss the chit chat.

Did I mention my Snapchat fascination??
So, consider this to be your virtual girls night book club.  You don't have to put a bra on to come...yoga pants are welcome...you never have to worry about a DD...and you don't have to clear a spot in your busy schedule.  Perfection!!
